Pickling Plums with Koupen-chan! Ch. 0 & 1

Ch 0: Koupen-chan Wants to Make Plums Together!

C: Koupen-chan who wants to try

Ch 1: Pickling Preparation!

C: Early Summer’s handiwork, preparation is also fun

K: Did the preparation, ya~y!

Y: What, what?

What is “たのC”?

I realized this is slang for “tanoshii” or “楽しい“, which means “fun.” I saw a similar structure in a later tweet by rurutea, which is what caused me to realize it.

It was “うれC“ or “ureshii” (嬉しい).

The Plum Pickling Process

Pickling Preparation

Koupen-chan is doing step 1 described on sonoka sakai, where you use a toothpick to remove the small brown stems from the plums, or ume. This is also the same first step when preparing ume plum syrup, which I discuss in an upcoming post.
