Uchimizu
From Wikipedia: “Uchimizu (打ち水) refers to the sprinkling of water in Japanese gardens and streets. It is more than a mere matter of hygiene and has, in temples and gardens, a ritual or contemplative purpose. In streets in summer, it serves to cool the immediate area, keep down dust, and also please neighbors.”
Sea vs. Ocean vs. Beach 海 (umi)
Please ignore my inconsistency. I’m mostly just going with what sounds natural in English, lol.
I feel like saying going to the beach is more natural, but they are not literally saying beach… Although contextually, it often does include the beach, so I may say “beach” instead. Interestingly, searching Jisho for “beach” also brings up 海 (umi): https://jisho.org/search/beach.
